Project Schedule

The 95 Express Projectis being built in several phases. Phase 1 (consisting of Phase 1A and 1B) includes the area between SR 836 / I-395 and Miami Gardens Drive/NW 186th Street in Miami-Dade County. Phase 2 includes the area between the Golden Glades and Broward Boulevard in Broward County.

Phase 1A began in February 2008 and electronic tolling was launched in December 2008. This phase included work on the northbound travel lanes from just south of SR 112/I-195 to the Golden Glades area north of 151 Street. The scope of work for Phase 1A included:

  • Re-striping northbound travel lanes to provide two express travel lanes and four regular travel lanes (six lanes total)
  • Modifying the NW 39 Street entrance ramp to I-195 at NW 10 Avenue entrance ramp
  • Storm water drainage improvements
  • Shoulder modifications
  • Installing electronic signage and tolling equipment in the northbound express lanes

Phase 1B began in summer 2008. Electronic tolling began in January 2010. This phase established express lanes along southbound I-95 from the Golden Glades area to just north of SR 836. The scope of work for this phase included:

  • Modifying on and off ramps between I-95 and SR 112
  • Re-striping southbound I-95 to provide two express travel lanes and three regular travel lanes
  • Storm water drainage improvements
  • Shoulder modification
  • Installing electronic signage and tolling equipment in the southbound express lanes

Phase 2 extended the express lanes from the Golden Glades area in Miami-Dade County to just south of Broward Boulevard in Broward County.  Construction began in November 2011 and tolling on this segment began in October 2016.
