Reading Toll Amount Signs

Prior to entering 95 Express at any of the designated entrances, drivers will see an overhead toll amount sign displaying one or more destinations and showing the cost to drive to those destinations.

The overhead toll amount signs provide drivers with information that allows them to choose to enter the express lanes or to stay in the un-tolled general use lanes.

Once in the express lanes, drivers will pass through established toll points that read their SunPass® transponder.

Drivers will not pay more than the amount that is posted on the electronic pricing sign at the time of entry.

If you decide to exit the express lanes at the first exit point, the SunPass® system will charge the toll amount from the entry point to that first exit.

Should you decide to remain in the express lanes and exit further along the system, electronic tolling equipment will read your SunPass transponder at each additional toll point and you will be charged for your entire trip, beginning where you enter and ending where you exit the system. Your SunPass statement will itemize your trip based on the number of toll points you pass through during your trip.

How to Read a Toll Amount Sign

Note:  Dollar amounts shown are for example only. Actual pricing will be based on dynamic congestion pricing, unless otherwise noted.

If you are traveling northbound (From Downtown Miami, SR 112, or NW 10th Ave Express Lanes Entrances)
Express Lanes Destinations shown Toll Amount Signs:

  • Florida’s Turnpike / SR 826 – This is the current 95 Express Phase 1 destination and in this example, you will pay $2.00 if you exit the Express Lanes here.
  • I-595 – This is the farthest destination for 95 Express Phase 2. You will pass three tolling points to reach I-595 and in this example you will pay $5.00 total for this trip. It is important to note that you should NOT add the two toll amounts displayed to determine your toll. The example $2.00 shown to Florida’s Turnpike / SR 826 is already included in the $5.00 price to I-595.
    • Additionally, when you pass the first toll gantry en route to Florida’s Turnpike / SR 826, you are “locked in” for the price to I-595. Meaning, even if the price goes up while you’re in the express lanes, the total price you pay, is what you saw on the sign.

Express Lanes Destinations NOT shown on Toll Amount Signs:

  • Ives Dairy Road –  This is the second of three exit locations as you travel northbound in the express lanes. The toll amount to this destination will be less than the amount to I-595.
    • Please note that on your SunPass® statement, for every tolling point you pass, the associated toll for that tolling point will be a separate line item.

If you are traveling southbound (From Broward Park & Ride, Davie Boulevard, or Stirling Road Express Lanes Entrances)

Express Lanes Destinations shown on Toll Amount Signs:

  • Florida’s Turnpike / SR 826 – This trip is the combination of two tolling points. In this example, the $2.00 shown to Florida’s Turnpike / SR 826 is a combined sum of the toll between Stirling Road and Ives Dairy Road PLUS the toll for the gantry just south of the Golden Glades.
    • Please note that on your SunPass® statement, for every tolling point you pass, the associated toll for that tolling point will be a separate line item.
  • SR 112 / SR 836 / I-395 – This is the farthest destination for 95 Express heading southbound. You will pass three tolling points to reach the express lanes exits for SR 112 / SR 836 / I-395 and in this example you will pay $5.00, total for this trip. It is important to note that as a driver you should NOT add the two toll amounts shown as what you will pay. The example $2.00 shown to Florida’s Turnpike / SR 826 is already included in the $5.00 price to SR 112 / SR 836 / I-395.
    • Additionally, when you pass the first toll gantry en route to Florida’s Turnpike / SR 826, you are “locked in” for the price to SR 112 / SR 836 / I-395. Meaning, even if the price goes up while you’re in the express lanes, the total price you pay, is what you saw on the sign.

Express Lanes Destinations NOT shown on Toll Amount Signs:

  • Ives Dairy Road –This is the first of three exit locations as you travel southbound in the express lanes. The toll amount to this destination will be less than the amount to Florida’s Turnpike/ SR 826.
